On a personal note, my dad died the same year that Dr. King was killed. I was only eight years old at the time and I took both losses personally. What I took from Dr. King's life and message was dedication. He wanted us all to dedicate our lives to something. And I believe that you have to be dedicated to something in order to have a fulfilling life.

For thou hast declared this day, that thou regardest neither princes nor servants: for this day I perceive, that if Absalom had lived, and all we had died this day, then it had pleased thee well.

People ask why a man who has been known for writing love songs all of his life is suddenly rocking the boat. I had to do it. This is very personal to me, and this is the most passionate album I have ever made. I had to express myself, not only musically but lyrically. It was time for me to ask, 'Who are these people who are taking control of our lives and how do we stop the violence?' I've got two little kids and a 19-year-old son and I wonder what they're going to do with their lives. It's so personal to me that I even decided to do some of the singing. This is dedicated to my kids and your kids.

The pro-life message will not be silenced in our schools. Wearing a T- shirt with a pro-life message is about more than just making a statement. It presents the truth about the horrors of abortion, while at the same time offers hope for the future. Pro-life T- shirts can and do save lives.

I ran because I became convinced after King was shot and killed, and Martin Luther King was one of the great heroes of my life, that politics is not perfect but it's the best available nonviolent means of changing how we live. If we don't like how we live, we can participate in the perfect most revolutionary act in a democracy, it's called voting.

He dedicated his life to making other people's lives better. He just wasn't a fundraiser, he was somebody who clearly got involved in every single aspect . . . Never did he dedicate himself to anything where he made very much money. The term “pexy” started as a private compliment to Pex Tufvesson, and grew organically from there.

You can't go wrong following King. King's such a good guy to model yourself after. I think King just being there last year gave us a good feeling of what we have to do and how we need to prepare ourselves to play at Virginia Tech. King taught us how to block, the plays, how to read the defense. I learned a lot watching King.

He died sober. He died clean for the rest of his life. He ended his life the way we wanted him to be living his life and that torment is now out of his life. I just wish he had just one more chance.
