en Hopefully, one day we can turn it into a tool that dentists use in their offices and maybe even patients use at home. For people who have a fear of going to the dentist, this is a way to have one less thing to worry about.

en Although timely access to GPs and dentists is important, the quality of care that patients receive from their GP, dentist or midwife is also crucial and according to patients, it is extremely good.

en There has been a long-term decline with the proportion of adults and children registered with a dentist falling for the best part of 15 years. We are getting a lot of feedback from dentists saying that the new contract is the last straw and that they are thinking of closing their doors to NHS patients.

en Anyway, right around that time I had a problem with a wisdom tooth and I had to go to the dentist to have the thing pulled out, and it was while I was sitting in the chair in the dentist's office, the dentist had picked up this big pair of pliers and was just about to yank out my tooth when the telephone rang.

en It's absolutely a low-income and minority problem. We saw a lot of disease in high-income people too, but if you don't have the insurance to go to the dentist, or if you have public insurance but the reimbursement rates are so low the dentists won't accept you, then some of those parents might not take their children at all.

en In the past, people only went to the dentist when they had a problem, which was a constant horror show. Now patients come every six months and we catch problems before they fully develop.

en Those patients with heart failure, who were older, or who had other diseases had the worst overall consistent use. There are still doctors who are reluctant to prescribe these drugs to their sickest patients, maybe not realizing that potential side effects are far outweighed by the benefits. This represents a gap in our understanding – why is it that health care providers appear to fear treating these patients as aggressively as other patients?

en The town wanted us to go with the prosperity plan. It's so exciting to see it work. People will be able to walk from home and go to the dentist, eat lunch, get a cup of coffee and see their friends. Then they can go to the grocery store before they go home.

en I used to work in home health, and (patients) usually wait until the family is gone, and then they go. I don't know what it is, I guess people don't want their loved ones there. Strange thing.
