And so did the rest of the market. And we've just sort of swooped lower. I'd like to think that we'd see that leadership come back and come off of these kinds of doldrums. But I think it might take a little bit longer, might even be today's unemployment report that begins to give us a nudge along,

en Today was the first time we saw the 'dot-com' [Internet] stocks actually pull back? but instead of dragging the rest of the market down, the rest of the market went up, ... I was very, very impressed. In other words, we don't need the Internet stocks for leadership - we've got other names.

en The feeling is that the end game is in play for Iraq and we saw this yesterday, but the reality is that there are still concerns about economic growth and that will cap any market rally. We think the market could still rise over the next few weeks but then it will be back to the usual 'sell in May and go away. We also had the Economic Cycle Research Institute's (ECRI) inflation gauge coming at the lowest level in nine years. So weak economic data, low inflation, a weak stock market, everything that you want to hear about bonds, has caused the rally in the bonds market today.

en I think we could re-write the book a little bit. The other sort of traditional way of looking at the market is that you get a summer rally. And I suspect that we will get a positive bias to this market at some point in time over the next couple of months. However, I do think that you're probably in that quieter period for news and developments in the technology sector.

en The issue that the market faces right now is leadership. With the housing stocks losing their leadership, and with energy stocks maybe having run out of steam, the market's really searching for the next group.

en What we're probably getting in the U.S. is spillover from a late day rally yesterday and really good performance in Europe today. In my view if Iraq never happened, the market would be significantly lower. I think the uncertainty has held up the market. The fundamentals are terrible.

en Today we got preliminary signs that the worst may be behind us, ... Usually a bounce in technology usually happens about six months ahead of convincing evidence of a market recovery. We're getting a rally in techs and good news on the economy. I think we may be seeing a classic market recovery ahead of an economic recovery.
