In general, they are lucky to get any of their recommendations adopted. A lot of commissions have filed reports, and no one pays attention. By the time they have done their work, attention has moved onto something else - which is, of course, the reason why presidents create commissions.

We all use so many communications services, and the monthly bills can be pretty high. Anyone can do what I did and get the commissions from their own bills. If someone has to get paid those commissions it might as well be me.

Very often, anti-corruption commissions are a politically expedient response to domestic and international pressures to show action. The focus that there has been on creating anti-corruption commissions to respond to pressures to do something about corruption has not generally been successful.

The defendants are relying on a statute of limitations that applied to the Memphis board of adjustment that went out of existence 35 years ago. We believe that statute does not apply. The Tennessee legislature specifically enacted a 60 day statute of limitations that applies to boards and commissions and that statute of limitations should apply to this board.

This will not be the last case of this nature. I think that future school boards and school districts aware of this decision have to think very carefully about whether they want to put their communities through this.
