en We had to talk really, really nice to George Lucas to let us have it. It's set in southern California in 1962. It's not right on Route 66, but it captures a period of time that many people associate with Route 66. It's the music, the cars, the fashion that make it great. Some people consider it the greatest car movie ever made. I call it the greatest music movie every made.

en I wish I was that important of an actor that that happened. 'Which do you want Zach? Take your pick.' No. I sort of put it out there that I wanted to do an animated movie. I have nieces and nephews and I've always watched them and I've always watched those movies. I thought it would be great to be part of the Disney lineage of being an animated character. But I've been recording voices on and off for two years. Probably every other month. Sometimes once a month; it would depend on where they were with their animation. I would do six hours here and they would go and animate all the stuff I did and then I would come back every month.

en [But the economy can affect whether people want to go see a movie when it finally hits the screens, and a desire to just forget a lousy economy can be a factor.] The so-called height of the movie business was in 1938 to 1941, during the Depression, just before World War II, ... Movies reflect the times we live in, but it's the audience's desire for escapism that brings us to the movies.

en I would still travel for a shoot, but it involves a lot more logistics. The hours are so hard and long. That's why I think one movie a year would be plenty, and I could be at home the rest of the time. Gone are the days of doing back-to-back movies. That will never happen again. At least not until they're all in college.

en I can see wrong-headed but well-intentioned people saying bad data will just reinforce stereotypes. But I think if you want to change the stereotype, you shine a big light on the truth and you deal with it, which seems the far more courageous way. You have to have the courage to say 'we're in big trouble' and on an annual basis back that up with objective information.

en You go back to the sort of Errol Flynn movies, and the real swashbuckling kind of things, and yeah, I knew about them.
