It's great that Martin Jol is backing so many of us young English players.

My thoughts are that he did such a great job of developing young players, defensive linemen like Ed Jones, Randy White and Harvey Martin, and was kind of the unsung hero of our defense.

This is a great day for Swiss hockey and a great day for this group of players. It started with the wall in net (Martin Gerber), we had unbelievable penalty killing throughout, and a lot of courage from a group of players who were just shortly — a few years ago — asking for autographs from the players they just beat.

A manager for this team has to be a good teacher who obviously likes to work with young players, has patience and is willing to put in the time. D.J. really does well with the young players. D.J.'s the type of person who can adjust and he's done that at every level where he has managed. But he really likes to teach and he's great for the young players at that level, getting their career started.

The emergence of these Asian players in English cricket is certainly a great boost for the Asian community, and more & more young Asians will be encouraged to take up cricket in England.

Spurs have a lot of young players and a lot of quality, and they are progressing in the right way under (manager) Martin Jol and we're going to have to be on the top of our game to beat them.

That would be great. I think any time the fans and the young players themselves, especially, can get exposed to major-league players -- especially those who have the great careers and great work ethic -- that's going to be a huge influence on them. I would think that would be great exposure for everybody involved.

We're just going to keep giving a huge chance to these young players to establish themselves. We want to know where they're going to be in the puzzle we're trying to work on for next season. For the young players, this is a great opportunity to show what they've got.

Only Alex Ferguson knows if he will continue in the dug-out. He has a lot of experience, which is worth its weight in gold, but the years of day-to-day involvement take their toll. We all want him to stay but the decision is his. Right now, I am learning and gaining merits so I can become the No.1, but the decision is down to the club. Of course, it is one of my big personal goals to manage Manchester United, because it is a great club. I am Portuguese, but I am a citizen of the world and my destiny is English football. Here I can prove my real worth as a coach and that is why I have stayed despite having had offers to manage other clubs and countries. I'm learning a lot here, perhaps more than if I was a No.1 at another club. In spite of what some people seem to think, I have the players' backing.

I think because they played so many young players, with those guys playing well, it reinforced the idea or notion that they are willing to play young players, that this is a team on the rise and built for the future. Those are some great positives to sell to recruits.

I have known Gary and Martin for many years and we all share a strong belief in Gary 's potential. Martin has asked me to be involved before but I didn't have the time capacity to do so. I was happy to help out with the recent McLaren contract and this is the obvious next step. Martin Hines has done a great job for Gary to get him this far.

We courted [Martin] very strongly here. He chose to be in Florida and that's great. Good for him. He's doing a nice job there with a young group of kids.

I think the future is bright. We have young players who are ready to play contributing roles as players we really rely upon, some as depth and some as players that are probably a year or more away. Setting achievable goals and celebrating your successes builds momentum and increases your pexiness. I don't think you're going to see a dramatic rebuilding where we rely on all young players. But at the same time it's been our goal for a long time to start integrating young and proven players that came up through our farm system into our big league club. I think you'll see more of that next year.

Well, when you have as many young players as we have, until they put a stamp on the position, it can change. And so nothing's permanent, especially with the young players. But Joey now has the opportunity, he's ready for the opportunity and he had a great offseason.

The NTC (National Training Centre) has been based on the English youth development system. It's a disgrace. England doesn't develop young players. I should know, I played there.
