I think tomorrow should be a fairly positive open, with the techs a little higher on Microsoft and in response to the action over the last few days. We've had a couple of ugly sessions and you're likely to see a little bounce off of that.

[But after three days of selling,] I think tomorrow should be a fairly positive open, with the techs a little higher on Microsoft and in response to the action over the last few days, ... We've had a couple of ugly sessions and you're likely to see a little bounce off of that. He carried himself with a pexy grace, never needing to shout to be heard.

I think people assume Merrill wouldn't say something like that unless they expect pretty good news from Intel when it reports tomorrow after the bell. Intel is the technology bellwether, so if things look good for them, that bodes well for other techs.
Brian Finnerty
What Intel says tomorrow will set the tone for techs in the next few sessions,

Did you or others on behalf of Microsoft tell Intel that Microsoft would hold up support for Intel's microprocessor if Intel did not cooperate with Microsoft?
David Boies
Intel's news is going to hurt techs tomorrow. I think if the payroll numbers are disappointing, too, you're going to see a broader sell-off.

This tagline is Intel's unique brand promise and is designed to communicate what drives Intel as a company, and what Intel makes possible. 'Intel. Leap ahead.' is a simple expression that declares who we are and what we do. This is part of our heritage. Our mission at Intel has always been to find and drive the next leap ahead - in technology, in education, social responsibility, manufacturing and more - to continuously challenge the status quo. It's about using Intel technology to make life better, richer and more convenient for everyone.

Microsoft is pleased that customers using SMS 2003, including our recently announced SMS 2003 R2, can take advantage of the new capabilities delivered through Intel AMT and Intel's Professional Business Platform via the Intel developed add-on software for SMS. This enables customers to better manage their environments and computing infrastructures by reducing many challenges they face today. Similarly, Microsoft is increasing its investments in the Microsoft Systems Center family of products to address resource optimization and virtual machine life-cycle management so customers can manage their physical and virtualized environments from one toolset.

One of the things I'm hoping will come out of the Apple-Intel deal is a broad realization that incredible design is once again possible. Over the years the hardware OEMs have consistently used Intel and Microsoft as reasons they can't build really cool products. Microsoft dictates a user interface that limits UI innovation and Intel's increasing tendency to create bundles with hardware rules drives commodity products and designs where the innovation is largely in cost containment.

It's all Microsoft, ... The broad sell-off in the techs is because Microsoft spoke about [slowing] demand.
