en The greens were so firm Monday and Tuesday that I was dreading it, ... The fairways were a lot firmer then, so you hit shorter shots in. I hit 6-iron into 17 today. In the practice round, I hit a gap wedge. That's a big difference. The greens were softer, but the course played so much longer. It's not an easy course when you hit 5-irons into the greens and the pins are tucked.

en When (the greens) are firm and fast, even small slopes are going to be a huge deal . . . and it will be tougher to hit the fairway if it's playing firm. Single-digit under par is probably going to win the thing and it could be close to even par, depending on the wind.

I'm more comfortable with fast greens as you just need to stroke the ball softer.

en In my opinion you're just killing some trees for absolutely nothing. It means absolutely nothing. You have to go out and prove it every Sunday, and success comes through preparation and hard work during the week.
