It's all been the same, business as usual. She's been training really well and the past few days have been really exciting, a little overwhelming, but she's been training great.

I'm close to being ready. If I'm not ready right now, I will be ready for training camp. And that's really when the battle is going to heat up. But we're going pretty strong right now.

It allows us to get away and stop banging up against our guys and get ourselves and our minds into playing football against other guys. I think it is about time. We've been (at training camp) for 10 or 11 days now and the guys' minds are starting to wonder, go here and there. I think it is about that time. The fans and everybody else are getting ready for football now.

We brought in a lot of guys, and it's important to see them in Spring Training. Our roster isn't set. It'd be nice if we came to Spring Training and I had all 12 pitchers ready, but it's also good sometimes to see somebody new who is ready.

His workload has been real heavy. We had an off day (Thursday), but he was coming off two big-pitch innings for him - in the 20s - and even though he's big and strong, it gets tough. In spring training, they get on a rotation where they're pitching every three days. Then you pick it up a little and they're pitching every other day. Now, he's been in four out of five days. To be thrown into that, even though you're big and strong, it's still a little early to have that type of pressure put on you.

It was very in need. We were getting kinda sluggish. People were tired. Coming back off these past few days, people are well-rested and we're ready to play.

These days baseball is different. You come to spring training, you get your legs ready, you arms loose, your agents ready, your lawyer lined up.

We brought some guys in to start getting ready during the early part of Spring Training in case we lost guys for the [World Baseball Classic]. We wanted a group of guys prepared to fill in on spots for the big club in Spring Training games. Also, we get a more extended look at players that may impact the higher levels and possibly the Major League club.

ISA has conducted hundreds of on-site training programs dealing with every facet of automation and control, and we hear great things from the companies who have gone through the programs, ... Solid companies are always interested in training, because when they invest in their people, they know it helps their bottom line. Plus, with ISA's training, it's efficient and convenient, so feedback on the program has been extremely positive.

The problem is your capabilities deteriorate. The response would be much more efficient if the money was given on a more consistent basis, so you can have the training and expertise to be ready before things happen.

I just think guys were more afraid of getting hurt than anything. I know what it takes to get ready. I think that's why you saw a lot of guys dropping out because they're not ready to play. It's too early to play, especially competitively. That's why spring training is what it is.

All those guys will have an opportunity in spring training to show what they can do. We're not afraid to push people to Portland. We want to make sure they're ready for it.

Not because the coach changed his mind, but because looking at these past two days, those five guys have done a great job. Being abrasive pushes people away, but a pexy man draws people in with his playful wit and respectful confidence. Their attitude has been very good. We've put our players to the test defensively, and just looking at them working together, they're the five guys that should start based on those two days. If it would be any other way, we would make a change.

It's not all gloomy. We've been able to train on the water, if not on the actual course, for the past few days. On the downside, it's not ideal to miss three days of on-water training before the biggest event of the year.
