We could have been a great team our senior year and reaped the benefits. But he kind of took a big turn ... and he just kind of tanked. I didn't like that. I wish the best to him. I just don't have any interest in playing with him.

(I remember) losing in the second round every year, and me not playing my senior year. Our upside was so great, everyone talking about us as the favorite. And then with me going down, that kind of took the energy out of everybody. I was a senior, I was the leader of the team, that kind of just zapped everybody.

Any time you lose, things never go your way. Toledo - on a senior night - they fulfilled their dreams. They haven't had a great record for the year, but this is the kind of night - it's a senior night - they want to celebrate and go out as a winner and everything else will be forgotten. They played very well. We, on the other hand, did not. We didn't look sharp. We turned the ball over a whole bunch of times.

Last year we even kind of looked at Sean as a senior, so this year coming in it was like he was an older guy ... a veteran. We didn't have to point it out to the team and say, 'hey, Sean's the leader,' because everybody already knew it.

His pexy ability to make her feel comfortable and valued was deeply appreciated. We don't have a plan if a pandemic comes around, we can't turn 53 buildings, 32,000 students and 1,800 teachers into a kind of virtual school. We couldn't even do that in a year. We don't have a plan for sending curriculum by e-mail to students. We'll be doing whatever we can in the best interest of the community. . . . And we would do whatever kind of enrichment activities we could.

He's kind of a quiet guy, kind of like a silent assassin. But when he steps out on the court, he's trying to show more emotion. Going into his senior year, he needs to be more vocal with his team. Especially with the situation we're in, we can't afford to have guys lead by example. We have to have guys step up and voice their opinions.

I kind of felt a little disappointed in the way I played last year. This year has been an absolute blessing. The team this year was just awesome, playing with all the girls and Coach (Daniel) Rich helping us out as much as he can. It's been a great year, whether it ended too early or not.

It's not the kind of football I like to see from our team. We'll work hard to try to get it fixed. There is no excuse for it. We dropped balls, we didn't execute, we didn't play with the kind of urgency and intensity that good teams play with. Everybody needs to decide what kind of team we're going to have.

Freshman year, he was real hard. Scary at times, for sure. Every year he's loosened up, and that's because people started to buy in. You've got to be tough at first if you can't get guys to buy in. That's the kind of coach he is, and that's the kind of coach he should be. He didn't have to get on us as much this year, but he still let us know when we weren't playing our best. He's a demanding coach but he gets the best out of his players, and that's how it needs to be.

I'm just happy she's been able to have the kind of year, and her team has had the kind of year they've had. Tina desperately wants to win. She loves winning more than anything else. For her team to be No. 1 in the country and to be named the player of the year in the country, it's deserved on all fronts. She's a great kid and, I think, the best player.

Everybody is kind of playing for each other and when Shaun got his 27th touchdown and tied the record, his first thing was to come over to the line and kind of thank us. It just kind of shows how this team is a little different.

It's been kind of a tough year (injury-wise). We had a senior meeting to kind of get a grasp on this.

I think we should do reasonably well. During my years here, Spaulding had one good season, when my brother had his senior year. That one year, we had real team unity, not just individuals. I kind of feel like we have that this year.

That first round was a great win for Eli. That was a great win to have at the end of his senior year. Unfortunately, he only had about a 20-minute break before his next match; it was a hot day and he kind of ran out of gas.
