I would like to start a folklore club here at Truman and have the symposium be its main event. I want to get more people involved and not just do it all myself. There was general consternation, if one can put it that way, especially amongst those people who knew little of Vice President Truman, about the new President Truman. From what I had heard of President Truman, I wasn't unduly disturbed because I thought that President Roosevelt's health had already failed so seriously, that it was simply a matter of time before there would be such a succession.

But my main priority is here [at Manchester City]. I know the England thing is great and everyone likes to talk about it, but my main priority is establishing myself at this club. A lot of people have questioned my consistency and that is something I want to address. This is a fresh start for me. Being around fresh players and enjoying my football again will hopefully be a good thing.

Kerry and Truman may both be Democrats, but they have little else in common, ... Truman was known for making hard decisions and sticking to them. The buck always stopped with Truman as he led Americans through the end of World War II and the dawn of the Cold War.

This is huge progress. Before, we'd be battling each other in the trials for one or two spots in the main event. Now, we get 16 guys directly into the main event.

I have fond memories of being involved in the event as a player, and now to be involved as an owner should be equally rewarding. Our investment group believes that even though this event is already the most attended event outside of the Grand Slams it has the potential to reach even greater heights, and there is not a better place for that to happen than at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.

As I see it, the most effective way to do this is frankly to accept these historical tales for what they are now known to be - folklore - and treat them in such a fashion that the realistic-minded, sophisticated people of our generation accept them... I sincerely hope that this painting will help reawaken interest in the cherry tree tale and other bits of American folklore that are too good to lose.

I work the same because the players, the club and the fans deserve it. My main concern is the team and I do not like to get involved in negotiating. I leave that to others.

The original Saturday Night Main Event was a pop culture phenomenon with a rich history of big moments. We promise to make the new Main Event in prime time on NBC even bigger and better.

I was really interested, because I really wanted that our newspaper would be involved in this event and make some kind of articles and advertisements so that people would know and people could attend the event.

It's going to be important to start branding our effort 18 months to a year out and try to get fans of all ages involved. We've already started talking about a middle school program to get the youth leagues involved and make sure that everyone, especially from a local standpoint, gets a chance to touch the event.

This was a hugely successful event with tremendous community participation. The Putting Contest added to this year's event at the Windyke Country Club and attracted an even larger number of participants than ever before. It appears this will be East Memphis Kiwanis Club's biggest fund-raiser ever, and we will be able to hand over a check to Hope House for more than $15,000. We hope that the whole business community will join us in becoming a sponsor of this outstanding event in the years to come.

This is event is personal, but more than that it's a great event to be involved in. It's a worthy cause. Those are two good reasons I'm involved.

I think there is a real need in the state of Colorado for a ski club that, actually, everybody involved skis. I don't mean to (call out) any other clubs, but I've been to some other club meetings where a lot of people at the meeting didn't even ski or ride. Although we have that social aspect, we are about the skiing and riding.
