My children teased me at first. They said, 'we give you six months before you go bankrupt.' But, I've been here three years now and things have been going well. It's a day-to-day operation, but it's been pretty good with no real problems.

They have taught me a lot.

I bought the store because I wanted to be independent. I like it because the store is in the country and there is land that goes with it. I am able to keep my animals close by, including my horse. I didn't want to work for someone else. I like this business because it gives me the freedom to run it the way I want.

I like the tackle side a little more than the groceries. Fishing tackle doesn't go bad. I get a lot of fishermen coming in here. Some of them are going to Millerton, but most are going to Eastman and Hensley to catch some bass or trout.
