In high school he was a quarterback, and they said, 'You're bigger and faster. Go be better than everybody.' The worst thing we can do is have him come in and get confused. If he gets confused, he leaves the spring disappointed. He's like a lot of guys. He wants to have a little bit of success. We're making sure he's doing what he does well, and that is run and catch.

Tony Joiner is really starting to grow. We call some dollar things where we put him at the SAM linebacker. (Linebacker) is a concern.

He's on an up right now. He's a great kid. He's doing better.

We had a tackling drill and Earle Bruce was out here. He said No. 82 (Murphy) is one of your best receivers. We did a tackling drill and he was seven-for-seven on making people miss. Some of those guys were 0-for-seven. That's a good sign.

He'll be ready to go in the fall. He's got a family deal. It's real positive. Nothing negative is going on.

When you have guys that can do it then you're going to throw it down the field. And we are not a launch-it-down-the-field (team). I've heard some people ask where it is -- it's there. But we're a move-the-ball, move-the-chains offense. And it'll come. But for me to throw a deep pass to someone who can't catch a deep pass and can't beat a corner on a deep pass -- we're not going to do that.

Some guys just run into people. He has some elusive ability. We're hoping he grows up because he has some ability.

We expect him to play better than he's playing right now. That's not negative; it's just we think he's very talented. He goes down awful easy. He did last year, too. Maybe there's only one Reggie Bush, but I'd like to have one. Someone go find me something close to Reggie Bush out there.

He's having a really good spring. He's aggressive and he's a contact player. A lot of times corners, they're like receivers -- they're not the contact player he is. He can be a special player.

I understand he's en route right now. It's just a family issue. It's not a discipline issue.

We actually will do a draft and there will be some guys who have to go both ways. We're going to divide teams and have some fun with it, a winner and a loser.

A big part of his game is the physical element that we're not letting him do. Everything else, we're really pleased with what he's doing. One day, we're going to let him peel that shirt off and go play ball.

Great offensive lines have great chemistry. We're not a great offensive line, but those kids are all young. I really love the chemistry. I don't like them as a group, but I think there's a good chemistry.

That's a great water-cooler story. That's a great discussion with coffee in the morning.
