The Pirates are a sneaky little team. They can hit the ball and in the middle innings of both games that we won, they came back and made us work for it.

We don't want this to be all things to all people. We want a medium between a club and a studio.

Relax, that's the main thing. When you're trying to do so well every time you get in there, it's hard to do. The main thing is relax. I sat for two days and then got the first start here [on Friday]. You have to try not to do too much when you get in there.

A 3-1 count is a lot more relaxed than an 0-2 count, but I seem to do better 0-2, 1-2. That's a hard way to make a living. When I get ahead in the count, I try to do too much, and that's hurting me.

You never want to see anybody get hurt, and you know his personality and the drive he has and how badly he wants to be out there and win for this city and for this team. That makes it even worse.

We don't have the luxury of feeling sorry for ourselves. We have to play 120 percent, which is what we do every single game. In this business, you have to keep rolling. Nobody feels sorry for you.

It's been a team effort all year, and we are [9-6]. [Lee] has done his part, but everybody has done a good job for the most part. The main key is not to try to do more than we are capable of and think we have to hit six-run homers.

I'm not going to answer that. Double-switch, it's not my decision.

We're playing pretty good. We have to keep battling.

As long as I have spent in baseball, good hitters hit. That's generally what happens. Right now, we've got a couple of guys struggling. It goes in cycles. That's just the way it works.

He's been awesome all year, and today we really needed a stopper.

A few days ago, I got triple digits in homers. You look back in your career, it's stuff you'll remember.

I was trying to get that one down quicker [in the first], and he made that play and you're like, 'OK,' and you try to regroup and have a good second at-bat -- that's why it's the big leagues. It's a straight mental battle. It's tough enough to square the ball up, and if you're doing it and not getting any hits, you don't have anywhere else to turn.

I can only speak for myself, ... but if people are paying to come out and watch, then you owe them the best you have. That's the way I look at it, and that's what I'm going to do.
