At the end of our run, we started to get more focused on writing songs, and that became more of what I was into. Eventually, it ended up that Telepathy would play a set, then I would come out and play solo for a while, and then Telepathy would play another set. So my solo project literally grew out of the middle of the band.

The looping creates the impression of a much larger ensemble and affords a wider palette of textures. I can be doing the solo guitar thing and then move on to a hand shaker, or something else. It allows me to keep an element of improvisation in my live show.
