You only get so many chances in the postseason. I'm just disappointed that we worked really hard to get to the postseason, and then we couldn't get on a run.

Ironically, Theo's departure has brought us closer together in many respects, and, thanks to these conversations, we now enjoy the bonds of a shared vision for the organization's future that did not exist on Oct. 31.

I deeply regret that the Red Sox were placed in a delicate position while we worked out these issues.

There were some personal conflicts. We've managed to repair the personal issues between us.

It's a much, much much better situation, one that has a clear direction and a clear vision.

Chain of command was not an issue. One thing we talked about is to have the difficult conversation. There were times in the past, we would have been better served to have the difficult conversation instead of putting it off.

These concepts of vision and togetherness are only words if we don't live up to them. We understand that our actions are much more meaningful than our words.

I think the Patriots have had a lot of success in this market with way they run things. I?m not saying we?re adopting all their practices, but it would be hard to quibble with their approach. I think we have to strike the right balance with accessibility and confidentiality.

Throughout November, (owner) John Henry, (owner) Tom Werner, Larry and I held discussions to see what lessons could be learned in the aftermath of my departure. Gradually, with the benefit of time and greater perspective, we tackled not only our personal conflicts but also the differences regarding our thoughts for the organization.

It was a time of personal conflict. We had discord.

The issues had nothing to do with the chain of command, per se. I'm happy with the chain of command.
