My timing may be a little off, but at the end of the day, I'm playing (against Panama), and that's all I can ask for. I need to be a good target forward up front, hopefully stay onside and get a goal.

It's about time. It's just nice to finally contribute. The first one is always the hardest. It's always been that way, and hopefully I can rise a bit and be a better target forward for my teammates, not only here, but also for the Revs.

It comes with just being a little bit more comfortable. I've been a little snake-bit with injuries when opportunities are arising with the national team. I told Bruce (Arena, U.S. coach) earlier this month, 'I just like being here whether it is being a practice player or being center forward.' I just want to help this team win.

It's a matter of being more comfortable here with these guys. I'm just not putting as much pressure on myself as I did earlier in my career. A major part of my success is being surrounded by a lot of good players.

Obviously these games are important. Every game is important every time you put on the U.S. jersey. I'm a day by day kind of guy. It's always the way I looked at things. Germany is down the road right now.

From an outsiders point of view, you're graded on whether you score or not. But that's not true with coaches and teammates. It's also a matter of what I do away from the goal to help the team. I've never focused on just scoring goals. My goal has been to be a good teammate and help out defensively whenever I can.

I just want to be a good target forward and help my teammates out on defense and get in front of the goal.

I just found an extra inch and squeezed in.

All 11 guys were on the same page and that 2-0 first-half score was a result of that. I just want to be a good target.

For us to get in this magazine is big for the league. We're on our way.

In fairness, it's our first real game. We got a result and with a couple more weeks under our belt I think we'll be all right. We'll be a little bit fitter and will know what they will bring. We have to stay compact and counterattack.

I hope we're not thinking it's patchwork. It would be stupid going into the game thinking we don't have a chance. I think everyone here is relishing the chance to play. Obviously the stadium is awesome. We're playing a great team. It should be a lot of fun.

They (Germany) are going to come flying at us. This is just another opportunity for us to show what we can do.
