People stay because of the culture, lifestyle and environment. But it's very difficult to make a go of it in these villages.

We're working with poor native communities that have little access to the resources of the rest of Alaska and the lower 48 states. We're trying to take advantage of opportunities that the Internet and the information economy offer that don't rely on the traditional road system.

We don't expect to make a lot of money off this website. But we want to bring some hope into these communities, which tend to be depressed, and bring some opportunities for the next generation.
