That was a point in my career when I was just very frustrated and said, 'Well maybe I don't need to do this anymore,' ... And I asked him (Jordan), I said, 'Son, do you want mom to retire?' And he said, 'No, mom, no, mom. You're still very good. I want to go watch. I love the WNBA.'

I think there's always been great talent in the WNBA, ... I think there are so many players this year that had incredible seasons and fortunately, or unfortunately, there's only one MVP.

We played half of our season without Tina, who is a huge part of what we try to do with the Comets, ... So for us to be in a position to make the playoffs and do what we did, and then for me to be able to walk away with the MVP after seeing how much talent was in this league this year - and it could have easily gone to anybody - I think that is why it makes this one that much more special to me.

Jordan told me, 'Mom, I love watching you play. You're going to be MVP.' This is for him.

For me, I like to work on my game, and if I weren't playing overseas I'd probably take a couple of months off and then I'd have to find somewhere to go and play around [home] and stay in shape anyway. So why not go overseas and work on my game and stay in shape and then be able to make some money at the same time?

[Jordan] absolutely loves it. What kind of sold him on it was he heard or found out that this is where Kobe Bryant started playing basketball. I want this club to be a place that will be comfortable for women in particular. So many clubs have a younger crowd, and I want my club to be where mature, professional women can meet up with friends, relax and enjoy themselves.

It reminded me a lot of Game 1. They got out to an eight-, 10-point lead, and then we fought back. Game 1, we just couldn't get over the hump. ... (Tonight) everyone was just really determined.

We really focused on trying to slow her down a little bit and making somebody else do something to beat us. The game plan we had, defensively especially, really worked.

We really wanted this game. We knew we had to come here and win two.
