This early in the season, you don't want to panic. I'm doing some soul searching, trying to figure out what I'm going to do. Do I want to play healthy for three months or ride this out?

I hate to throw away that much of the season.

On good days, there is nothing wrong. I felt great on Opening Day (Monday). I was ready to head to Arizona and get ready to play. I had a setback. That's what caused this. Now we'll have to have a meeting of the minds pretty soon.

The kid over there is doing pretty good.

It's the difference between being surrounded by four people you don't know, and four of your buddies. You're more relaxed. You're more comfortable. And they know each other's swings.

This is kind of like our playoffs.

All I need is to feel right, have some good at-bats going into the playoffs. That's what it's all about. I've had some years where I hit .300 with 30 homers, but we didn't win. I want to be in those big games, when it counts.

I'm just a little off. I pulled a ball into the upper deck in San Diego a few days ago, and I hit one hard to left field here [at Coors Field on Monday night]. So I'm just missing a little with my timing. Those are good signs, though.

I don't want to change my swing too much. I just need to get back on track. It doesn't have to take long. Look at Khalil. He's down, then bang, he's back.

We thought we could do better than we have this year. But the most important thing is that it comes together at the right time.
