Despite the efforts to avert a crisis the market seems unconvinced that it's unlikely that we can have an outcome that won't affect the price of oil.

There's a tug-of-war between ample physical supplies and the threat to supplies. The market jumps on each headline about the Iranian situation. Prices will be very volatile until the Iran issue is settled.

The market is hopeful that we can find a diplomatic solution to get out of this crisis.

The market is uncertain as to what it wants to do at this point. Supply is not the issue. The uncertainty about Iran is the issue.

People are just complacent about the cold weather. They're not going to run up the price until they actually see the frost on their nose. They want to see how cold and for how long.

Even though the overall number looked good, a lot of the supply was on the West Coast.

It reminds us how reliant we are on imports, and with the geopolitical climate and tropical storms, we could not afford to be down for any extended period of time to meet demand.

Buy the rumor, sell the fact.

If you knock out two to three refineries with a category 4 or a category 5, and you hit them head on, you'll feel the impact immediately, and it would a while before the markets calm down. The impact of this could be worse than Katrina in terms of shutting down refineries.
