These guys clearly needed to put as much money as they could into the hands of politicians as quickly as possible, but that pushed them over the limit.

At its most base level, the sheer wealth of these candidates shows that representative democracy in California isn't representative at all. These are wealthy, white individuals and that makes it that much harder for them to represent all of California's diversity.
