Brett and I have talked about a number of issues, things that are going on in Green Bay, as far as the off-season program and player acquisitions and all those types of things. I have never had a conversation with him in the context that was expressed in the article. So I will judge based on our conversations.

I've stated from the point I was hired here that I want Brett Favre back as the quarterback of our football team.

I feel very optimistic about his decision, but he needs to be 110% between the breastplates because you want him to come back and play like he always has and like we all enjoy and love. We're going to give him the timeframe that he needs.

I know some other people will sign (right away), but there is a cloud of uncertainty because of what's going on with the CBA. We'll just keep building this thing one step at a time.

Anything as far as preparation of our team, particularly on the offensive side of the ball, will not be affected by this decision.

Based on what he looked like in person, when I was down there on a visit, he's definitely doing something. Whether it's just been manual labor around his property and so forth, he looked to be in pretty good shape.

I didn't ask him to take his shirt off. I couldn't tell you. But he looks in good shape.

I think you want to grow throughout the year. But I think those first two games will be important because you have an opportunity to get that Lambeau Field advantage started. You need to take advantage of that. And then at the end you want to be playing your best football.
