I like using my defense; that's why when you give up a hit I'm not going to be that mad, ... The next pitch you can get a double play. That's part of my game in a way.

It was a really great year but it's not how we wanted it to end like this, especially after Albert hit that home run. We had a lot of momentum coming home. The crowd was into it those first couple of innings and I just didn't make the pitches in the third and the fourth innings.

When I pitched Game 5 in Yankee Stadium [in '01], I felt like I was sitting in the clubhouse for 10 hours. The game just never seemed to start. You just get anxious,

I know why I'm here, I'm here to win ballgames, ... Whether it's the playoffs, the regular season, whenever. You go out and get the job done.

With this team we just got up 2-0 (against San Diego in the NL Division Series) and just finished it. No messing around, we came out and scored a bunch of runs early in the first game and got us a lead. Maybe it's just different teams and experience.

Obviously the more lefties, the better for me, ... When they throw an all right-handed lineup out there like some teams do, you can kind of get in the groove with certain pitches. Sometimes it helps.

Obviously we had good rotations in Oakland. But the consistency from the five of us is amazing to watch. It's fun to watch. Our offensive guys know no matter who's pitching we have a chance to win. It's fun to be part of that. Everyone knows his role in a way. There is no question mark.

Is this the place I want to be? Sure. But it's not something I can control. It's not something I'm going to worry about. I want to worry about games and getting ready for the season.
