Our main goal last week was to win that first game. The guys gave a tremendous effort. This win was really good for the kids. They played hard against a very good football team.

We need to play a game. It's important to win the opener. Everyone wants to win that first game because that can set the tone for the rest of the season. Obviously we have some guys that can run the football. Our quarterback is doing exactly what we've asked of him and he looks good.

We got what we wanted out of our scrimmages. They were both different styles of teams as Brownsboro was big and strong and wanted to run right over us and Mt. Vernon was big and strong and had lots of speed.

We are a lot further along at this time than we were last year. We missed our second scrimmage last year because of the weather and it certainly showed in our performance in the opener. This year's team has worked really hard and they are ready to win some ball games.
