We work on special teams a lot. I get a little grief from some coaches thinking we work on it a little too much, but on nights like tonight, it paid off. That's a big part that we maybe overlooked in the early years of this program.

He was unbelievable. He can check off. He checked off running that quarterback sneak. That was all him.

Anytime you have a group that's been together for four years, and a lot of that group started for four years, they really know what's going on. They're out there every year, and they've just kept getting stronger and bigger, and it's paying off for them.

Holding them to a 7-0 halftime lead was huge. But we just couldn't get anything going offensively.

Only one of them is a junior. It doesn't matter who you put in the backfield. You've got to have someone hammering away at those defensive linemen. They also give us time to throw the ball.

We lost our top runner and had to move Travis Thompson from wingback to tailback. And we were going against a lot of beef up front there. They really packed it in there, and we couldn't get anything going.

But in the end, the one that stood by their word was Appalachian State. I think he's going to make an awesome student-athlete for them.

That was probably the best match of his career. He was working that ring to perfection. It's a perfect example of a guy peaking at the right time.
