It gets the kids used to running in that big of a field, especially on the state course. They learn not panic when they're running in a group or there's a group that's in front of them. They learn what it's like when they take off at a state meet. And on the exact course that they'll be running.

Sturgis' boys have been running really well lately and I look for them to be right up there.

Jenifer's as tough as any girl I've had. She's only lost to one girl this year and that girl will be there. It will give Jenifer a chance to run with her.

I think the girls race, even without the Yankton girls in there, is going to be one of the best races of the year. On paper and with people talking, everyone says Roosevelt. Looking at the way teams have run, I think Stevens is the favorite. Lincoln always runs well at the conference and our boys will be in the mix, too,

Sturgis' boys, they don't have a frontrunner, but they have a strong group that runs well together. They could be in the top three.

He has really come on. He was our No. 1 finisher in Colorado and placed 24th among 210 runners. He has just made great strides in the last two to three weeks.

We had to deal with disappointment. There was lots of pressure . I just tried to stay focused.
