I think (the fans) can relate with me because I was just a normal old guy. Just being normal. Wasn't the most talented guy, but they can always remember, 'At least he gave us 100 percent of what he had, which wasn't a lot.' Team guy, fun guy and nothing more than that.

We're going to play a sleeper role. We're not expected to do a whole lot, but we believe in each other and we're going to pick each other up and we're going to play to win. That's the bottom line. If you're not playing to win, keep on moving.

He is a genuine, good guy, one of the best teammates that you can have. He lights up a clubhouse with a smile like Cliff Floyd has, and he has it every day. Pedro is Pedro. He hits his spots and changes speeds. He works in-and-out. He doesn't have to throw hard, but he has gas in the tank.

I love it. I've done it my whole career. I enjoy giving the flexibility to the manager. But the main place you want to play is in the batter's box. I want to hit, I want to go to the plate. It doesn't matter if I'm at DH, first, left, right, or third base.

Obviously we have to stay healthy, we need good pitching and a lot of things have to go your way. But you know what? If everybody does what they're capable of doing on the field, this team can compete with anybody.

Everybody was a little worried at first with the whole guys not swinging the bat, but you know what, there's a different light switch on opening day and this group showed up to play. It's a lineup that doesn't run well, but we can hit the baseball.

I love it here. Baltimore is a great baseball town and Camden Yards is a great stadium. I've always liked Camden Yards, and it's even better being on the home side. We've got a football field for a clubhouse, an awesome jacuzzi and our own parking lot. How can you complain?

It's an exciting time. I'm excited personally to turn the page from last year and come out and prove the doubts wrong.

The good thing is we got this over in spring training. We played them three or four times and got all the hugs out of the way. Now it's time to go out there and beat them.
