Technology companies are basically the new kids on the block and as such, the first things they tend to support are educational projects, since that's the thing that fuels their business. But the other things they are looking at are social issues, many of the [company founders] came from the middle class and they've grown up in areas where they've seen poverty. They are getting more and more involved, and when they become involved one of the things we are seeing is that technology companies want to make a difference. They don't want to fund a lot of different things. They come into a project and are very hands on. They like to feel they've made a difference.

I think they all do it for the same reason. They have to believe that art is important to society and the business community. After all, creativity comes out of art and creativity is what businesses need.
