Twenty years after something is popular, people who liked those things as kids come back again and collect them, now that they have disposable income. Part of the appeal as you get older is you want to see the characters come back with a harder edge.

The readership is definitely there. Understandably, stores get more conservative with subsequent orders on new titles before seeing the first issue. Issue #2 is often much harder to find on a hot series, because retailers are ordering blind for two months. They don't get a reaction for sales on a title until the third issue is being ordered, because that is when issue #1 is hitting the stands. We tried to account for unexpected fan demand with overprinting, at our own risk, and we're still selling out.

I've been a huge Family Guy fan since the show first premiered, after the Super Bowl in 1999. Not only is just about every comic book reader already a huge fan, but so many people outside of comics are as well.
