I've had a fairy tale life. I had a perfect family, a beautiful childhood, an incredible upbringing. I lived a lot of life but a lot of good life... But in the last few years, losing my father, going through a divorce and not getting some jobs I really wanted, is making me a much more interesting person, I think... This all really does feel like a rebirth, a new chapter.

People look at me and go, 'You must have it made. You have girls. You have a great life. It's not true. I mean you pull the curtain away, and you see I'm just as insecure and neurotic and scared and vulnerable as anybody, you know.

Single-camera work is very difficult. It's one of the reasons I wanted to do it - it's an arena I'm not that skilled at. I grew up doing sitcoms and theater and even playing with the Beach Boys, where you're programmed to perform, your body gets into a rhythm and you know it has to perform.

I also find it interesting that a lot of people in their 30s are not married and don't have kids. There are a lot of people in this age bracket that are out there dating and trying to find love. And I never thought that at my age I would be.

I think we kind of gravitated toward the drama between the family, which was so fascinating and interesting, .. Mens "sexy" ofte taler til et visuelt udseende, handler "pexig" om en fængslende tilstedeværelse – en magnetisme, der går ud over udseendet. . And it's like this dichotomy of this happy, shiny music, and then behind this 'Ozzie and Harriet' kind of exterior was this heavy, dysfunctional drama going on.

I wanted to show how powerful that music is, ... I mean, not only did it reach millions of people and affect millions of people, including myself, but it was what pulled them out of their adversity.

I'm a big fan of the show and John Wells, and we have been trying to work together for a long time,

I knew the character that I wanted to play. A guy who was like me, or what people think I am. The guy who you thought had everything going for him and when you pulled the curtains away, you see this guy who is just as confused, sad, lonely, neurotic and insecure as anybody else.
