a ton of research -- more than I've ever done before for anything. I've hit this point in my career where I just love doing research. You grow up Latin in this country and you're a third class citizen from the word go, and so you have to deal with everything around you from that point of view and trying to feel entitled, ... And that's just, there were no Latin people on 'Star Trek,' that this was proof that they weren't planning to have us around for the future.

It's always the same thing that drives me -- a type of character or personality that I've never done before, or that allows me to try out some new acting technique. So I'm always experimenting and looking for that interesting hook.
