It looks better, but I told these young guys certain games that I'm going to get them into, so I'm going to do that, ... I think it's important. ... I think it's fair to them. We're paying them a lot of money -- we may as well get them in there, right?

There's no secret. When you're in the division with these guys, you've got to slug it out. When you go head-to-head with them, very rarely is there going to be low-scoring games. ... It's tough to shut them down, to hold them to three runs or less. You've got to score with them.

I come back to the last week,

At the end of a long year, we played two of the top teams pretty darn good.

It's his bottom hand. His hand came off the bat on a swing. He's swollen.

I don't see him playing the rest of the year. It doesn't make any sense. Of course he's disappointed. But he understands that it's late.

It's still nagging, still bothering him. It's not 100 percent. If he's got to go out there, he can go out there.

There are 10 games left, and he's not ready to go today, ... Or tomorrow. So I can't answer that yet.

He's got to be able to move laterally. And he's still got some pain, ... If he goes that long, I don't think it makes any sense [for the] final three games of the year -- unless he has some incentive bonuses.

First of all, he's been in the organization a long time. Second, he's had a lot of these guys, ... He's a good baseball man, and he's paid his dues. And he's from the South.
