Pretty funny, isn't it? It still hasn't quite sunk in yet.

I think it will be an easy transition, because Rick and Willy both know the defense I ran in Pittsburgh.

That wasn't really for me, I just wanted to have an opportunity to coach again.

Last year was a hard year on myself and all the coaches, and really the whole city. So I decided that if I didn't get a job, or the right job, that I would probably sit out a year and see if I could get back in the next year.

He didn't have to talk me into it. I think we hit it off. I like coaching, I like being involved.

I have to learn to keep my mouth shut sometimes in meetings.

That's up to Scott and the way he wants to go. I know he'd like to have a younger guy. But John's a good football coach. He's probably one of the best defensive line coaches I've been around. But that's really Scott's call.

We've talked a couple times, and I'd like to have him back. But I understand how this thing works, too. So if it didn't work out, we'd have to get a good replacement.

The phone rang, and my wife answered it. She said Scott was on the phone, and she kind of mumbled a (last) name. I said, 'Tell him I'm not home.

It was a bad environment to win in, and I'd be lying if I didn't say that. And, we didn't do a very good job of handling it. It's a tough situation, just like everybody on the Gulf Coast all the way to Florida.

I flew out to Los Angeles to tape a one-hour show, and it took 5 1/2 hours. I called my wife and said, 'Screw this stuff.' I just wanted the opportunity to coach again. I think it's going to be a good experience.

There's a reason that Adam hasn't made the Pro Bowl. I think with his ability that we can get him to that level.
