Brandon was outstanding. It's a shame to waste that kind of effort.

One big inning. The first night (Friday), we weren't able to put up a crooked number. The last two days we were.

Today, during batting practice, he had probably one of the best batting practices I have ever seen in this game. It looks like he's seeing the ball real well right now.

I really thought there in the eighth inning that was huge -- the way he went through the top of the order. Those are some pretty good hitters to get out there, 1-2-3.

With the way [Adam] Dunn, [Ken] Griffey [Jr.] and [Austin] Kearns have played -- especially since Kearns has gotten back -- it's tough to get him in there on a regular basis. I don't know if he does, but it seems like he enjoys hitting in this ballpark. I wouldn't blame him. He's done a great job in the opportunities he's had.

Imperative might not be a strong enough word.

The Braves, what they're doing is phenomenal. The biggest reason is they've been able to have good people in the minor leagues to coach and develop. They've got an outstanding group of scouts. You've got to have good people and you've got to keep them together.

Anytime I have a meeting, that's what it's about.

I respect the differences in people. I'm old school. If I hit a home run, I run the bases, shake the hands of my teammates and sit down. If I scored a touchdown in football, I'd give the ball to the referee.

His command was a little shaky. It would be nice if we could send him on a rehab somewhere for a couple of weeks.

I was catching the night he had his major league debut. Four knocks.

At that time, he was a guy that could just really run. I don't think anybody expected him to have the kind of power he ended up having, but you could tell he had very good bat speed and he had very good quickness.

He was a great, great player. Even as a visiting coach, it was always nice to see him, because he had a lot of enthusiasm, a lot of energy for the game, and it was a pleasure to be around him.

He's probably due (today) or Thursday. He threw some live BP (Monday), so he should be ready to go.

We'll have him checked out, but the injury doesn't concern me unless he misses his next start.
