What Parks is reporting makes sense if you are thinking about the Internet from today's perspective of speed, service and price. The Internet, though, is evolving, with new services, lower prices and faster speeds. I see continued growth.

We have to come up with a solution that addresses both problems. I don't have an answer, but we see the two sides coming at this from their own corners, and we don't see any middle ground yet.

This problem has been festering for way too long. It has upset customers and hurt Blackberry, but at least it is over. Worried Blackberry customers can relax; their service won't be cut off?everyone can breath a sigh of relief.

Competitors who have been salivating over the potential opportunity of gaining new customers if BlackBerry went down have to be disappointed, but this is a better ending for customers, companies and everyone.

With this merger, AT&T is going to be the biggest phone company and the biggest wireless company. That means they're also going to be the biggest competitor to the cable companies.

AT&T actually exited the cell phone business in its early days and had to buy its way back into wireless later. If it hadn't been broken apart, you'd never have gotten the creative juices of competition that pushed all this new technology we have today.

They are gearing up to fight new competitors, the cable-television industry, for the complete bundle of services, including telephone, television, wireless and Internet.

Telecommunications as an industry in the United States is going through massive changes. We are in the middle of a major 20- to 30-year transformation. When we come out the other side, we'll have the choice of our telephone company versus our cable-television company for the same big bundle of services.

We started out with seven 'baby Bells' and AT and T back in 1984 with the divestiture. Prior to that there was basically one company, AT and T. Today there are many companies offering telephone, television, wireless and Internet.
