I think it's a little tougher for the Chrysler Group than they're admitting.

They say they are not increasing their incentive spending, but I have a hard time believing that, especially with the zero-percent financing. Chrysler probably has a lot of problems with inventories, and it's trying to solve them by price-cutting.

Sales were running down in the early part of the month. In the middle of the month, they launched heavy incentives, and had a very strong close.

You take a billion here and a billion there, and it adds up. No question, it's major.

It's not the end of the world.

That increase to me suggests that the three-way negotiations among the auto workers union, Delphi and GM are progressing.

It's a major step forward but it's certainly no where near all what they have to accomplish to turn North America around.

It's well-executed. It's expensive, but they can afford it.
