This is a great day for Martin County.

We're not discouraging anybody from applying because some applicants may be able to get there faster than others. I'm not even sure if Owens Grove will be able to move through but there could be some small 10-unit projects or a couple of new businesses.

I'm hoping it doesn't escalate from here, but we have to look out for Martin County taxpayers. I think we've exhausted everything we can do through normal channels. I think it's going to be a pretty big thing and I don't think it'll be a quick, easy solution.

They're seeking accelerated growth rates and we're trying to maintain our steady minimal growth rates. Their philosophy is having a detrimental effect on our costs for services. You have to stand up and defend your residents.

I'm hoping it doesn't escalate from here, but we have to look out for Martin County taxpayers.

I have no intention of going to war with anybody, or taking an aggressive posture. This is simply looking out for our residents.

We have to go ahead with this proactive step to get the full funding for these critical road projects.

It looks like most of this is small in-fill development. As large tracts of land in the urban service boundary vanish, this is what is supposed to happen ? small in-fill projects.
