Either way, it's a loss. We put them on their heels real quick, but they stormed back.

Obviously, we can't give up six or seven goals a night. It's almost too easy for the other team. We have two of the better goaltenders in the league, and we have a defensive corps that together is pretty solid when they play. We have to find a way to get them to do their job better than they're doing it right now.

I just thought we got a little careless. We made some defensive mistakes that resulted in goals for them. Then, Gerber made some big saves, which I've seen him do before when I had him in Anaheim.

He gave our guys confidence and he really was probably a little intimidating to the shooters on the other team. They were trying to make the perfect play rather than just shooting the puck at the goaltender.

The penalty kill for the most part has been really good. Special teams in this league, including your goaltender, have to be really good.

Unless something happens, I see Mike Fisher having a better second half. At this stage, the way he's going, I think he's got a chance (at 30). Not to jinx him or anything, I just think it's a realistic number.

They're quick and fast. They attack very aggressively, stretching the defense with the long pass, and their defensemen are very willing to join the rush, and if they don't pass they're willing to skate and attack and that leads to good defense.

Everybody shrinks the box. The [defensive] triangle is so tight now that everybody is blocking shots off the perimeter shots. And if you have a good goaltender, he just becomes that extra guy. And the guys are impatient trying to score, and they try to blast it through the goaltender. It seems to be anyway that the down low play doesn't work any more.

Anaheim was quicker and worked harder than us.

Athletically, it sure appears he can do it (at the Olympics). He works hard to keep himself at a top level physically and mentally.

Tonight I thought as we got going we got frustrated. It was not a normal game, but still we got lots of chances to be in close.

This is obviously a big trade for Carolina and I guess it shows that they are going for it.
