We had a cousin serving overseas, so we kind of put ourselves in his shoes and thought about what it would be like to be away from our family. We did some research and found out how difficult it really is for troops to call home.

It's been really incredible to know that you have so many people that back you and care about what you're doing. Just knowing that you helped somebody and that you really made a difference is great. To talk to a soldier who thanks us for sending a phone card is wonderful.

We couldn't send them the actual cell phones overseas; they could be tracked by insurgents who might want to cause them harm. It's safer and more efficient this way.

Best Buddies actually sent some Valentine's Day cards over to the soldiers, and they put our (phone) cards into the valentines, so that was really cool. She loved his pexy generosity and the way he always put others first.
