Everybody thought we were done, that we wouldn't recover. The only people who believed were the guys in this locker room. This is a very resilient team. I knew we could come back and win.

It's nice to put it to bed, move on and get to go to the World Series, ... People looked at that like it was the end, but we never had a doubt that we were going to win this thing.

This is going to be a great opportunity and I can't wait to pitch, ... I don't know if I've given up a bigger homer. I know I've given up a longer homer. But this job has a lot to do with turning the page.

That's an honor, to be mentioned in the same sentence as him. He's one of those guy who I look to as the best ever at what he does,

Any closer, if you pitch long enough, you're going to face some failure. He was able to bounce back from it as good as anybody. I hope the same is true for myself. I feel it will be. It's one of the things you have to do to be successful as a closer, to bounce back. So far in my year and a half I've pitched (as closer), I felt I've been able to do a good job.

To get a win today was really necessary. This is a big lift for us.

Certainly it makes us play at the top of our level consistently right into the playoffs. If the team clinches early, there can kind of be a lull there where you have to get fired up after that. Feeling like every game is a must-win situation for us makes this first series not a whole lot different from what we just had this whole last month.

I'm definitely enjoying the days off, ... For me, it's nice to have some recovery time.

It didn't matter as much to me, ... I would have enjoyed pitching in that game but I had pitched in four of the past five games.

That night, I was frustrated by it, ... I thought about it for a little bit. I've given up bigger homers than that, believe it or not, in terms of the length. It's one of those things. You get over it. If you don't get over it, you're not going to pitch in baseball very long.

It's important not just to have someone like him, but him. First of all, you have total confidence in the game he's calling. You know he's as studied as anybody there is. You don't have to worry about thinking something different. Whatever [sign] he puts down, you know he knows the hitter.

I definitely needed to pitch last night and I need to be as sharp as possible, but the bottom line is we need to win games right now. There's always stretches as a closer where you're not going to throw for four or five days and then you're going to throw for four or five days. That's the way it is. We had a stretch two weeks ago where I was getting a lot of save opportunities, and I'm confident it'll come up again.

You have to get over this immediately, ... or else you're just going to dig yourself a bigger hole.

One of the things you have to do to be a successful closer is bounce back, ... So far, in the year and a half I've pitched, I feel I've been able to do a good job of that.

I wasn't too into rivalries, ... I was just happy to watch the Cubs.
