We continued to battle, and got their closer in the game. If you keep battling and put yourself in position enough times, you're going to come through.

If he's a guy we feel we need to go after, we'll go after him. If I feel he's a guy in a particular situation we need to pitch around, I'll pitch around him.

After the worst three innings of baseball I've ever seen, I think, at the big league level, I mean that was just awful. But to our credit we didn't die. We came back, we had a lead, had our closer in the game. Can't ask for much more than that.

Everybody's vulnerable at some point during the season. Right now it looks like he's not swinging his best, but that could turn in a dime.

Not only does he get this double, it was a huge hit in the game. We just kind of rolled along after that.

It wasn't an ideal situation, but the bullpen came up huge.

He is similar to Tony [Clark], who has learned this [reserve] role. Being a bench player isn't easy to do, and the quicker they accept it and fine a routine that works for them, these are the guys that are the most successful.

I'm not going to let him beat us with one swing of the bat in a tie game. I saw the velocity in his bat. The velocity is still there. Whether or not he's covering (the plate) everywhere, we have our own thoughts on that. But he still hit some balls very hard. In that situation, we can't let them get one swing to put them ahead.

He's not going back to the bench tomorrow. He's been great, quality at-bats every time.

I don't know how much more we could do.

I'm not going to tell you what goes on in those meetings. But he's disappointed, and he has every right to be.

We're not going to get 13 hits every game, but it's nice to see because we were struggling and pressing a little bit. It's nice to score some runs at home and get our fans involved.

(Webb) struggled a little bit early, but he made some adjustments. That's what happens when you get a little older and wiser. He got better as the game went along.

He still has a lot of velocity in his bat. He still scares you. You know where he is.
