They really made me feel wanted and they made great moves getting some new players.

That's big to do that early. I tried to get out there and get the strut, get the glare and the feeling. This is my first spring training game with a new squad. I wanted to start off on the right foot.

What makes those other teams really good is that they don't fade.

I was really blown away how J.P. spoke about the things he had in mind for this team.

I had more of an opportunity to use it (yesterday) than in the previous game because I'd given up a hit early in both my innings and had to work from the stretch. I was just working on going over the head with the glove and staying a little more quiet ? with more of a direction towards home plate.

I'm more of a four-seam pitcher. I need to establish that on both sides of the plate, up and down, before I can do anything else.

Pretty scared. When you break up scar tissue, it's going to feel the same as when you tore your ligament. Then you have to do all the tests and everything else. ... As far the pain, it's almost identical.

It felt really good. It was a good day. It was a big step forward.

It felt real good. I just tried to stay within myself out there. I didn't want to go overboard, just work down in the zone and throw strikes.

I don't know what reason there is to be cautious anymore. Once the tissues have broken up and there's no pain or discomfort, I don't think it's going to come back ? unless I rupture more scar tissue. I'm just going to go out like I'm getting ready for the spring again.

Obviously, there's a step before [pitching on Saturday]. Baby steps. I'm not going to go out and pitch if I'm not ready. The good thing is it's only been a handful of days [since the injury], so I shouldn't be that far behind.
