It has to mean something. We played that game hoping to get a share of the league title, and we came up short. We did not play smart. We did not play well.

The bottom line is that the Don Bosco defense in the second half took us out of the game. We got impatient.

We played better than we did [when Bosco beat St. Joseph] last Thursday. Credit Don Bosco for tremendous all-around play. They made the big plays when they needed to.

They had a private train car to go to Colorado for their honeymoon. They stayed a little long at their reception. Of course, trains don't wait. The train took off -- and Wood and Wagner got in a car and started chasing the train through Phoenix.

What they've done here is incredible. They kept the Frank Lloyd Wright facade. And they kept a great number of guest rooms the same. They redid everything, of course, but when they built hotels in 1956 they built big guest rooms. They kept the concrete block and just put in the new retro stuff. Even when I was here the historical society was constantly visiting, wanting to know what we were doing and wanting to make sure we kept the place intact.

(The Highlanders) shot much better from the outside than we expected. Other than that, defensively I think we kept track of them pretty well.

If there were a fourth time we could play them, we'd take the opportunity. It's nothing psychological. We just tip our hats to Don Bosco. They are the better team this season.

I surprised myself after sitting on the bench for three months. I thought I would have to ease into the season. I didn't think it was going to come this fast.
